CEFTRIZ

Injection. Ceftriaxone Sodium USP 3 GRAMS

           Ceftriaxone is a potent, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used in veterinary medicine for its broad-spectrum activity against Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria. In poultry, it is typically reserved for severe, systemic infections where other treatments have failed.

Clinical Applications

Ceftriaxone is highly effective against several major avian pathogens, particularly those that have developed resistance to first-line antibiotics. Common uses include:

  • Colibacillosis: Severe systemic infections caused by E. coli.

  • Fowl Cholera: Infections caused by Pasteurella multocida.

  • Salmonellosis: Management of Salmonella species.

  • Infectious Coryza: Severe outbreaks of Avibacterium paragallinarum.

  • Mycoplasma: MG and MS

  • Standard Dosage - 25 mg to 50 mg per kg of body weight.

  • Route Intramuscular (IM) or Subcutaneous (SC) injection.

Safety & Withdrawal Periods

To ensure food safety and bird health, please adhere to the following:

  • Withdrawal Period: Always observe the mandatory withdrawal period (usually 4–7 days) before slaughter to ensure no residues remain in the meat.

  • Egg Safety: Not recommended for use in birds producing eggs for human consumption unless specified by local regulations.

  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place (below 25°C). Use reconstituted solution immediately or as directed on the label.
